Thomas comes from Bury in Greater Manchester and it was whilst at school here he began learning the cornet aged 11. Soon after, he took up a seat at Besses Boys Band in Whitefield and enjoyed many years playing with the band competing in regional and national contests, touring Europe and performing countless concerts around the UK.
In this time, Thomas took up the role at the Musical Director for the youth band and it was here that he started composing and arranging. He has been fortunate to work with many youth bands across Greater Manchester including Stockport Schools’, Middleton Youth Band and The North Manchester Youth Band. Whilst working with these bands, Thomas has penned many pieces in order to build the band sound and confidence as well as increasing the knowledge of the young players within them.
Upon completion of his A levels, Thomas studied at Salford University under Howard Evans and specialised in performance and conducting. During his third year at Salford, Thomas worked closely with Dan Price in order to continue pursuing his interest in composition and arrangement.
Recently, Thomas has worked to extend his portfolio to include music for wind band and continues to write a wide array of music alongside his full time job as a secondary music teacher.
