Jean-Pierre Hartmann born in l'Isle the 3rd of April 1965 is a musician from the Vaud region of Switzerland, organist, orchestral conductor and composer. Jean-Pierre Hartmann started his musical journey playing cornet for his local village band before entering the Lausanne Conservatory for Music to study trumpet with André Besançon. He completed his musical education studying wind band conducting under Pascal Favre and orchestration in the class of Jean Balissat. Very much attracted by the keyboard, he first started studying piano, before studying organ in the «Ecole de Musique du Nord Vaudois» with Michel Jordan and completed his education in the Lausanne Conservatory for Music where he obtained in 1994 a teaching diploma in the class of André Luy.

Having a strong interest in composition from a very early age, he wrote his first composition for wind ensemble at the age of 13. On top of composing for many different groups of diverging orchestrations (competition pieces, concert music, original pieces, light music, marches and different arrangements), Jean-Pierre Hartmann is equally called upon to create music for events such as birthdays, anniversaries and theatre:

1996 - 900th anniversary of the commune of Cossonay
2003 - bicentenary of Canton de Vaud
2006 - 30th anniversary of Cossonay Music School and 25th youth camp of Société Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises (SCMV)
2010 - 20th anniversary of Harmonie du Pontet
2011 - 20th anniversary of Harmonie 1990 de Sélestat (Alsace)
2012 - humoristic musical show «Délit de Cuivre»
2013 - Gentiane party in Charbonnières
2017 - humoristic musical show «Délit de Cuivre… récidive»

In 2007 Jean-Pierre Hartmann took away first price at the competition for composition of the «Marche de la Brigade d'infanterie de montagne 10».

Official organist in Cossonay, Rolle and Perroy, he collaborates regularely with the baroque music ensemble «Triumvirat» and conducts the «Harmonie du Pontet», a wind band that regroups musicians from Vufflens-la-Ville, Mex et Villars-Ste-Croix.

Very active in cultural projects in his region, he is co-founder of the foundation «Aura Musicae», the goal of which is to provide Cossonay church with an organ of high quality and concerts to match.

All his eclectic activities open many musical doors for Jean-Pierre Hartmann, these can grant him many rich collaborations in the service of music, be it as organist, accompanist, director composer or arranger.
